Overview
Dr. Edrick H. Dorian is the Chief Police Psychologist of the Los Angeles Police Department and serves as the commanding officer of its Behavioral Sciences Services group, where he oversees the first and one of the most robust law enforcement wellness programs in the nation. Dr. Dorian also provides consultation to the Chief of Police and other executive leaders on matters related to transformational leadership; organizational dynamics, policies, and culture; employee health and wellness; and high-risk behavior management and intervention. He is double board certified in Clinical Psychology and in Police & Public Safety Psychology, co-editor of the scholarly volume Police Psychology and Its Growing Impact on Modern Law Enforcement, and past recipient of the LAPD Command Officers Excellence in Leadership Award, the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police & Public Safety Psychology Award, and Pepperdine University’s Distinguished Alumni Award. He held faculty appointments at California State University Northridge, Pepperdine University, and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA prior to joining the LAPD in 2006.
Dr. Dorian was born raised in Los Angeles, and attended St. Peter AGBU School (as it was called then) from 1979-1981. His wife is also a former AGBU student and now faculty member, and his two children are an AGBU freshman and a recent alumna.
