Dance Arts
Preschool
Learning the art of dance helps young children develop knowledge, skill, and understanding about the world. With dance, students can explore
and control their body movements. These activities are great for development and stimulate connections in the growing brain. Our preschoolers take the stage to showcase their dancing skills
at the end-of-year performance!
Elementary School
Armenian Dance was added to the elementary curriculum in the 2015-2016 school year. Each week, students visit the dance classroom to learn about various types of
Armenian folk music and its corresponding choreography. Through music and movement, students develop their large motor skills, hand-eye coordination, self-expression, and confidence.
Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of school programs and performances throughout the year.
Middle School
Junior Conservatory is a by-audition-only after-school program open to our 7th- and 8th-grade middle school students, allowing advanced dancers to explore more
challenging choreography and showcase their skills. Students do not have to be enrolled in the dance class to audition for Junior Conservatory.
High School
Dance I/II is a beginning to intermediate dance class designed to encourage each student to be comfortable, confident, and courageous in their body through the
understanding and execution of dance. The students will assimilate kinetic awareness and learn how to communicate through their physical center, giving them discipline and
freedom as dancers. Students will perceive and respond, using the elements of dance. They will demonstrate movement skills, process sensory information, and describe
movement, using the vocabulary of dance. Through various dance techniques, yoga, and Pilates, students will become more flexible, strong, and physically and mentally fit.
Dance III/IV is is an intermediate/advanced dance class focusing on technique, repertory, and composition. The students will assimilate kinetic awareness and learn
how to communicate through their physical center, giving them discipline and freedom as dancers. Students will perceive and respond, using the elements of dance. They will
