Collaborative Learning Center

What is the CLC?

The CLC project is aimed at creating a state-of-the-art learning environment where students can collaborate and learn from one another, fostering an innovative and
engaging academic community.

The Collaborative Learning Center will be a transformative addition to our campus, providing students with a space to work on group projects, engage in discussions, and explore new ideas.

Your gift to AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School affirms your commitment to
Building a Legacy empowering us to instill Armenian heritage and academic excellence in a safe and nurturing learning environment.
AGBU MDS has been able to thrive and grow because of the generosity of our community. Gifts to our Funds from parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, and friends send an important message of unity to our community, prospective families, foundations, and other donors.

What will the CLC look like?

The AGBU MDS Collaborative Learning Center (CLC)
the structure would replace the two existing single-story buildings with a new two-story on-grade
the structure that houses both uses in a state-of-the-art facility.

  • The combined building will have a central covered plaza with dual entrances on each side into the Library and Administration sections, on both floors.
  • A promenade entry will connect the school’s vehicle entry to the CLC building with a landscaped walking path and garden area.
  • The Library will feature adjustable meeting rooms with integrated technology, book stacks, reading nooks, open space, a volunteer leadership meeting room, and a central cascading auditorium that will be used for lectures or meetings.
  • The Administration Building will have a reception area, offices, staff meeting rooms, a large conference room, small and large break areas, and storage space.

Why do we need the CLC?

CLC is an ideal environment to develop essential skills and foster a culture of
collaboration and teamwork.

Additionally, it can be a valuable tool for staff recruiting, training, and retention, as it provides teachers with a dynamic space for professional development and collaboration. Teachers can work collaboratively on curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment strategies.

Research shows that educational experiences that are active, social, contextual, engaging,
and student-owned lead to deeper learning.

The benefits of Collaborative Learning include:
  • Development of higher-level thinking, oral communication, self-management, and leadership skills.
  • Promotion of student-faculty interaction
  • Increase in student and staff retention, self-esteem, motivation, and responsibility
  • Exposure to and an increase in understanding of diverse perspectives.
  • Preparation for real-life social and employment situations.
  • Improved social skills such as teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution
