We are excited to announce an important step towards enhancing your child’s educational experience by making AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School a phone-free space. Through theYondr Program, already adopted by thousands of schools in 27 countries, we aim to create a more focused and engaged learning environment.
While we recognize the value of phones, we’ve found that students’ focus, participation, and mental well-being significantly improve when they are free from the constant distractions of mobile devices during school hours. By using Yondr’s simple, secure pouches to store phones during school hours, we aim to give your child the opportunity to concentrate fully on their learning and interactions with peers and teachers. The Yondr Program will begin for middle school students on November 4 and for high school students on November 18.
How the Yondr Program works:
Each student will receive a personal Yondr pouch, in which they will store their phone when they arrive at school.
Students will keep their phones with them but will not have access to them until the end of the school day.
Students must bring their Yondr pouch to and from school each day and are responsible for their pouch at all times.
The results from schools that have adopted Yondr are compelling.
86% saw a positive impact on student safety and wellness
84% saw a positive change in student engagement
72% saw a positive change in student behavior
68% saw a positive change in academic performance
Middle School students have already received an orientation for the Yondr Program. High school students will also have an orientation in the coming weeks. Parents and students will be required to complete an acknowledgment form outlining the Yondr Policy on MyAGBUMDS. This form will be released to students and parents by next week.
We understand that being able to contact your child is important. In an emergency, you can always reach them through the school office at (818) 883-2428.
We strongly believe this initiative will help students focus better and thrive academically. We ask for your support as we roll out this program, knowing it’s designed with your child’s success and well-being in mind.
Thank you for partnering with us in this effort; we appreciate your support.
