In order to provide a transformational educational experience for every student, we rely on financial contributions of all sizes from our entire community—including parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, faculty and staff, and friends. Your gift to the AGBU MDS Annual Fund impacts the quality of an MDS education Today, Tomorrow, and into the Future and helps us close the gap where it's necessary. Your gift confirms your commitment to our 45 year legacy and empowers us to provide life-shaping experiences to as many students as possible.
MDS relies on major and minor gifts to fund much needed capital improvements. Capital gifts help to fund building and technology projects and allow us to attract and retain the best educators. Recent contributions, for example, have helped to renovate our gym/sports facilities, build the toddler building, upgrade our IT and computer room.
Designating your giving to the Curriculum Enhancement campaign allows administration and faculty to develop new resources & technologies, expand existing programs such as the Visual and Performing Arts, and athletic programs, experiment with new instructional approaches, or address issues of health and wellness in the school setting all with an aim of improving the student learning experience.
Each year, teachers collectively engage in hours of professional development, providing them with the latest educational tools and resources which in turn, positively impact student achievement.
On average, tuition and fees cover 80 percent of the costs associated with educating our students. To sustain AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian’s excellence, the school must provide the resources necessary to attract and educate the most talented students across Los Angeles, regardless of their families’ ability to afford tuition.
Last year, in addition to financial aid support, we provided aid to those families who were adversely affected by the pandemic. Together we’ve transformed the lives of countless students—past, present, and future—making an AGBU MDS education more accessible to those with limited financial resources.
Unrestricted gifts of cash are the most popular and easiest way to support the school's mission. Gifts may be made in a single contribution or pledged and paid in installments.
Gifts of stocks or securities benefit you and the school. This type of gift is tax-deductible and you may avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciated stock or security.
Often a gift of appreciated stock offers tax benefits to the donor. Not only can the donor take a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock for securities held long-term, capital gains tax on the appreciation can be avoided.
For tax purposes, the gift is valued at the average of the high and low price on the day the shares are delivered or transferred to MDS per IRS Regulation section 25.2512-2(b)(1).
Donors are advised to consult with their own legal, tax, and estate planning professionals when considering gifts other than cash. To make a gift of stock or securities, please contact our office.
The impact of a contribution can be greatly increased by a matching employer gift. When considering a donation, consult with your employer, and if applicable, forward the completed matching gift form to our office with your contribution. A matching gift can dramatically increase your support for the school.
MDS greatly encourages and appreciates future gifts made through one’s estate. Bequests are the most common way for donors to make their ultimate gift to the school. If you are interested in learning more about gift planning, please contact your estate-planning professional.
