Tagoush Khodabakshian has been part of the AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School Family for 30 years, 25 of which have been in coordination and administration of the Artemis Nazarian Preschool Program. She began her AGBU MDS career as a preschool teacher in 1991, and in 1995 became the Curriculum and Supervision Coordinator in addition to teaching. In 2001, she was appointed as the Director of the Preschool Program. Her responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the preschool, communicating closely with families, and mentoring, guiding, training, observing, and encouraging her amazing faculty of more than 20 members.
Mrs. Khodabakshian is dedicated to educating young minds with a compassionate and creative approach while simultaneously immersing them in Armenian heritage and culture. She believes that young children have absorbent minds and are capable of learning and developing through interactive and meaningful experiences with their environment. They are creative explorers who need to be given the opportunity to experiment, discover, imagine, create, interact, and learn. She is proud to be part of an educational institution where each preschooler is valued as a unique individual and given the opportunity to be a well-educated and respected member of the community.
As Director of the Artemis Nazarian Preschool, Mrs. Khodabakshian has been instrumental in growing the program from just 4 classrooms in 1991, to 10 classrooms today and growing. She also expanded the program to accept students as young as 18 months. Under her direction, the preschool program has been accredited by both NAEYC and WASC. Mrs. Khodabakhshian has 36 years of experience in the early childhood development field. Prior to working at AGBU MDS she worked at UCLA Child Care Center. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education, both from UCLA. She is a proud parent of two AGBU MDS Alumni.
