It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of John Boyajian on February 2, 2026.
Mr. Boyajian served as Board Chairman of AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School during a pivotal period in the school’s history. He was Chairman at the time of the school’s relocation to its present campus on July 1, 1986, overseeing the transition and playing an instrumental role in completing the necessary remodeling in time for the school’s reopening, with an enrollment of more than 400 students.
Mr. Boyadjian brought a practical, hands-on approach to his leadership, visiting campus often, working closely with faculty and staff, and helping guide improvements and growth. During his tenure from 1986 to 1991, Mr. Boyajian supported hiring qualified teachers, expanding academic programs, and expanding facilities to accommodate increasing enrollment. Under his leadership, student enrollment rose significantly, additional mobile classrooms were added, and plans were developed for expanded facilities, including a two-story classroom building and a gymnasium-cafeteria complex along Vanowen Street.
After retiring from the Board, he remained connected to the school and took pride in its continued growth and service to the Armenian community. We extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. May his memory be eternal, and may he rest in peace.
