Dr. Karayan served our school alongside the Board of Trustees from 1994–2013, first as Vice Chair and later as Head of the Education Committee. During nearly two decades of service, she played an instrumental role in shaping our educational direction and strengthening our academic programs.

At the heart of Dr. Karayan’s philosophy was a profound belief in the potential of every student. Her guidance encouraged our faculty to think beyond traditional methods, embrace thoughtful educational practices, and continually strive for excellence. Her commitment extended throughout AGBU and the greater Armenian community, where she worked tirelessly to advance Armenian education, language, identity, and culture. Her connection to AGBU MDS was also deeply personal, as her two granddaughters attended our school and are now proud alumni.

We are deeply grateful for Dr. Karayan’s leadership, wisdom, and unwavering dedication. Her influence will remain an important part of our school’s history and educational legacy. On behalf of the entire AGBU MDS community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Karayan family and all those whose lives she touched.

Դոկտոր Սիլվա Գարայեան կեանք մը ամբողջ ապրեցաւ Հայկական Բարեգործական Ընդհանուր Միութեան շունչին տակ: Անոր մահուան գոյժը անակնկալի բերաւ մեր վարժարանի մեծ ընտանիքը: Երկար տարիներ ան վարած է ատենապետութիւնը ՀԲԸՄ ՄՏՎ-ի Կրթական յանձնախումբի եւ եղած անդամ Հոգաբարձական կազմին։ Դոկտոր Գարայեան հպարտ մեծ-մայրն էր երկու շրջանաւարտ թոռնուհիներու։ Որպէս վեթերան միութենական, իր եկեղեցասիրութեամբ, հայրենասիրութեամբ ու հայերէնասիրութեամբ ոտքի պահեց լոսանճելըսահայ մեր համայնքը՝ ծառայելով մշակութային զանազան մարմիններու։
