AGBU MDS Places First at the US Academic Decathlon 2025-2026 Small Schools Virtual National Competition
We are thrilled to announce that, following the Academic Decathlon Virtual National Championships, our decathletes have advanced to the United States National Competition!
Released just yesterday, the results of the Academic Decathlon Virtual National Championships announced that our team competed in eight events in the Small School Category against schools from states such as Arizona, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Alaska, Idaho, and Wisconsin, representing the state of California.
Andrew Gharibian won the bronze medal in Essay, Art, Economics, Science, the silver medal in Social Science, and Music.
Sevag Markarian won Silver in Economics.
Sevag Vakian won the silver medal in Essay, Art, Math, and the bronze medal in Economics.
John Mazedzhyan won the silver medal in Essay and Economics and the bronze medal in Art and Math.
Bedros Oruncakciel won the gold medal in Math, the silver medal in Economics and Music, and the bronze medal in Social Science.
Mateos Celik won the gold medal in Science, the silver medal in Social Science, and the bronze medal in Art and Economics.
Mina Kajoukian won the gold medal in Economics.
Andrew Gharibian, Sevag Vakian, and John Mazedzhyan earned first, second, and third place, respectively, amongst all competitors.
The medal winners and the significant contributions of the competitive scores from Isabella Shagmirian and Ani Tokadzhyan have earned our first national championship. It is an honor not just to compete at this level for the first time in our school's history, but also to be the first Armenian school to do so.
We are very proud of all of our decathletes for their hard work, dedication, and persistence. We congratulate them on the close of a wonderful season and look forward to next year.
